1. Vision alignment
OPENFor the conversation with James
What does James imagine Adrian doing in an average week by Month 6? Specifically:
- Number of participant-facing sessions
- Number of check-ins
- Hours of configuration / design work
- Hours of documentation
- Who owns aftercare?
If his answer is closer to “co-practitioner” than “contractor-architect”, the rest of the rewrite is pointless until that’s resolved.
-
2. Geographic reality
OPENFor the conversation with James
Is James comfortable with Adrian being video-only for participants? Are there participants/families in Darwin where remote-only Adrian involvement won’t fly culturally or practically?
-
3. Greenpeace background
OPENFor the conversation with James
Does James actually have a Greenpeace campaign background, or was that a flourish? (Adrian has flagged it as part of his own history. If only one of them has it, the “both practitioners” framing needs to change.)
-
4. Pilot vs. launch
OPENFor the conversation with James
Is James open to framing July 2026 as a pilot (3–4 participants, no public marketing, document-and-iterate) rather than a public launch? This matters for compliance posture, financial expectations, and risk tolerance.
-
5. Registration trajectory
OPENFor the conversation with James
The original mentions reviewing NDIS registration at 18 months. Is that still the intent? Registration has real implications (audit costs, Practice Standards, Worker Screening for all staff). Worth being explicit about whether registration is a target or a hedge.
-
6. SPARK in the proposal
OPENFor Adrian to decide independently
SPARK is publicly documented (https://spark.wedd.au). Obi is publicly named on the site as co-designer. Is Adrian comfortable with SPARK being referenced in a business proposal that will circulate to plan managers and participants?
Sub-questions:
- At what level of specificity? (“AI safety background” vs. “the SPARK project” vs. “SPARK is the basis for our AI companion offering”)
- What are the implications of Obi being publicly associated with the proposal context, even indirectly?
- Does the proposal claim SPARK as evidence, as inspiration, or as a deployable system? Different answers, different exposures.
-
7. Failure First framework
OPENFor Adrian to decide independently
Is “Failure First” a documented methodology with an artefact (essay, repo, deck) that can be linked, or is it a phrase Adrian uses internally? If the former, the proposal can credibly reference it. If the latter, either document it or stop using it as a credential.
-
8. Adrian's actual hours commitment
OPENFor Adrian to decide independently
The 5–10 hr/week ceiling is the stated constraint. But Adrian is also finishing a manuscript, planning an off-grid build, and running the three-AI workflow as a daily practice. What’s the realistic spare capacity for this engagement? 2 hours? 5? Be honest with yourself before being honest with James.
-
9. NDIS-aware adviser
OPENFor external advice (likely paid)
Someone who works in the unregistered provider space and can sanity-check the claimability matrix, the pricing, and the safeguarding posture before this goes to plan managers.
-
10. Insurance broker
OPENFor external advice (likely paid)
Real quotes for professional indemnity covering disability + technology
- AI deployment to minors. The original’s $1,500–2,500/year estimate is plausibly low for this risk profile.
-
11. Privacy/data lawyer
OPENFor external advice (likely paid)
Brief consult on data handling for participant records, especially if any AI tools log interactions or store data. NDIS Privacy Policy requirements + Australian Privacy Principles + the specific issues around AI logs of conversations with neurodivergent minors.
-
12. Is this Adrian's project at all?
OPENOpen strategic questions
The honest version of this question. Adrian’s other commitments are real. The off-grid build is imminent. The book is in production. The SPARK project is active. The three-AI workflow is itself a practice.
If the contractor-architect role consumes 5 hours/week consistently for 18 months, what gets dropped? And is the answer good?
The proposal should not happen because it’s possible. It should happen because it’s the best use of the next 18 months of those hours.

13. What is "SPARK" when it's deployed?
OPENOpen strategic questions
The single biggest unresolved technical question. See
drafts/v2/06-spark-deployment-model.md. Until this is answered, several other v2 sections can’t be finalised.
